EduKick Manchester Visits with Jon Maken – Watch the Video!

Jon Macken in ActionRecently EduKick Manchester received a visit from recently retired former Manchester City professional player “Jon Maken.” Macken, who began his career in Manchester, has enjoyed a marvelous career in soccer.

He represented the England U-20 team, at the 1997 FIFA World Youth Championship, earning himself one cap.

Macken then went on to represent the Republic of Ireland at full international level were he received one cap, in 2004.

Jon spent the morning talking through his career as a player, starting with Manchester United and his signing for Manchester City (for 5 million pounds, no less!).

He spoke with the students and coaches about the highs and lows he has experienced in his 17-year professional career.

During his visit, Jon Macken offered the boys some tips on how to focus and progress. Afterwards he allowed for a question and answer session to the enjoyment of all.

It was a great opportunity for the student-players to hear first-hand what it is like to be a professional player, and allowed them to understand the commitment, drive, and ambition they need to set them on their way in their own careers.

Thanks, Jon Macken!
