XXIV Alcalá Cup – Easter 2010

Easter is one of the most expected times of the year at EdukickMadrid since its time for the Alcalá de Henares Cup, a tournament that is becoming special for all of us. This year Edukick Canada DPSoccer joined us with two teams (one boys and one girls) and we also enjoyed once more the presence of the Edukick England BWFS squad. Below you can see the pictures of these teams before a match. First Edukick Canada DPSoccer girls and boys, next Edukick England and finally Edukick Madrid.

Although the main reason for coming toMadrid for these teams is to play competitive football we also had time to visit the city of Madrid, not only we went to the mayor spots like the Royal palace, the Parque de El Retiro, Puerta de Alcalá, Plaza Mayor etc. but also we joined a tour of both of Madrid´s main stadiums, Estadio Santiago Bernabéu and Estadio Vicente Calderón home for Real Madrid and Atlético de Madrid. Here are some pictures of those visits.

The EdukickMadrid squad had lots of illusion going into this tournament. Although our players are placed in different local teams and they dont get the chance to play together during the year the good work done during the EdukickMadrid private trainings and the quality of our players and coaches gave us reasons to figure out that we were going to perform well in the tournament.

EdukickMadrid was placed in group B together with EdukickCanada DPSoccer. First game was against them and EdukickMadrid managed to succeed in what was an excellent start of the tournament. Two more games where left and they where both two succeeds for EdukickMadrid and yes, we had made it to the FINAL!

On group A CD Avance had shown a clear supperiority over the other squads of the group with 3 wins, scoring 14 goals and only letting 4 in, so the final game was expected to be a very tough one.

The final game didnt start the best way possible for our squad since half way through the first half we got scored and had an injury. However we continued playing the way weve been learning to do and kept on trying throughout the rest of the game.

And it wasnt until the last 10 minutes of the game when our effort got rewarded and it got rewarded in a wonderfull way with two goals that gave us the final 1-2 win, which meant EdukickMadrid win the cup for a second time in three years!

Next pictures belong to the final game, a day none of our EdukickMadrid participants will forget.

We couldnt thought of a better way of ending this lovely easter time that celebrating it by going to watch a La Liga match in the Vicente Calderon stadium. The Edukick family grew up to 110 members for that event and yes, we where all so close to the players as shown on the pictures.
